Goals from Amr Zaki, Ahmed Hassan and Ahmed Gaafar made the difference for the Whites against a strike by Mohamed Abd-Rabou ‘Felix’ for Production.

Production played with ten men for more than an hour after midfielder Wagih Abdul-Azim, who only left Zamalek a few months ago, saw red for a second bookable offence.

Benin striker Razak Omotoyossi made his debut for the Whites, starting beside Zaki upfront before being substituted in the second half.

It was an unimpressive performance from the muscular forward though, having been kept at bay for most of the night.

The result marked Zamalek’s fourth win in five games against their Cairo rivals, who lost by the same scoreline in the last meeting between both sides.

Zaki and Hassan again

Once again, Zaki and Hassan proved to be Zamalek inspirational figures like they did in the opening game against Ghazl Mahalla, with the Zak heading his side into a 13th minute lead.

Production were made to count their losses when playmaker Abdul-Azim received his marching orders on 31 minutes, in what proved to be a huge blow for Kamal Etman’s men.

Surprisingly and against the run of play, former Ahli forward Felix pounced on a poor piece of defending by Salah Soliman to snatch an unlikely equalizer, following a huge kick by goalkeeper Nader Saad.

But the stalemate lasted for two minutes as Hassan hit his third goal in as many games, slotting home another fine assist by full-back Ahmed Samir.

Production guardian Saad had a busy night preventing Zamalek from adding more goals, but the hapless keeper could do no more than saving Gaafar’s initial attempt in the third goal.
